I was roaming around (avoiding work) on the internet today, and found these great field guides for digital SLR users.
CLICK HERE to go to PhotoAnswersOnline
They’re very well done, so scroll to the bottom of the post and DL the whole set of them in one zip. There is a lot of information in there that we give people when we teach camera classes, and you’ll have it at your fingertips when you need it. In particular, read through the first one, Using your Digital SLR. There is lots of good basic information in there that will make you a better photographer!
Happy SNAPping!!

These go with one of my FAVORITE kits - Changes and Challenges. This kit was a request by a customer who had recently been through an accident and illness and had many changes and challenges in her life. She wanted a kit she could scrap about her new life - with cane or crutches or wheelchair - and of course LAPTOP!! So I put ALL those things in along with some vibrant colors that fit her fun personality - and what a great kit! So here’s your freebie:

and don’t forget to drop by SOTB for the other half! THEN check out this cool kit - if you don’t need the elements, the wonderful papers are available in a paper pack!

I wanted to share with you what I did tonight - this is my first effort with this technique, and I’m fairly pleased with the results!
First I took this image:
and made it into a cartoon:
THEN turned that into the cover of our middle school cookbook:

I’m hoping the cookbook committee likes it!
I learned a lot from a great tutorial by Melissa Clifton HERE - she’s got lots of great tuts, go check them out!
Thanks for looking!

Dontcha HATE when you get a kit, and it just doesn’t have that tag you need? You go searching through your stash looking for just the right thing, or something you can recolor, but still, it’s not quite right? Never again! Use your kit’s papers or run actions or apply styles to these templates, and have JUST the right tag! Included in this kit are 30 plain tag templates of varying sizes, AND 18 Tag Frames! Insert paper or a photo into these frame templates, and you have a great embellishment for your layout.
Buy this kit here on the blog for only $3.99 - HALF PRICE BLOG SPECIAL $2.00!!

I’m a great believer in using keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop CS/CS2/CS3 or Elements to work more efficiently and quickly. Here’s two great ones:
- Ever wanted to quickly duplicate a layer and make a new one? Instead of selecting the layer, copying it, creating a new layer, and pasting, just hit Ctrl-J (Command-J on a Mac) and it happens like magic. Neat trick huh?
- Ever wanted to fill a layer fast with the foreground or background color? I used to go to Edit-Fill, select Foreground or Background from the pull-down menu, and click Okay. Instead hit Atl-Backspace to fill with the foreground color or Ctrl-Backspace to fill with the background color. (And use Shift-Backspace to bring up the fill dialog box quickly)
Hope you enjoy these tips - till next week Keep Scrappin’!

I have a GREAT little ‘anytime’ craft for you - make a minibook from a SINGLE SHEET OF PAPER!!
I’ve put together a little template for you, along with instructions and a list of suggestions to get your creative brain whirring. The template is 8.5 x 11, but you can do the technique with any size piece of paper. Larger paper will get you a larger book! I’ve done this at schools, with Girl Scouts, at Sunday School and VBS - anywhere you need a quick, inexpensive activity!

This is a Valentine’s Day book I made today! When you buy the template pack, you get a plain layered .psd template, with one space for each page, conveniently numbered so you put the right image in the right spot. I’ve even included pages with photo cutouts for your convenience! You’ll also get printable instructions (OK to copy for non-profit use) and a sheet of suggestions.
You can buy this template here now, for the rock bottom price of $1.49 (the kit will be $2.99 when it hits the stores!)
