As you advance in digiscrapping, you get a lot of kits. And elements, and papers. It’s hard to keep them all organized. Last week I showed everyone how to do a contact sheet using Adobe Photoshop (See post here). This week we’ll look at how to do the same using Photoshop Elements. It’s similar but with a few key differences.

Three major differences between doing the contact sheet is Photoshop versus doing it in Elements are:

  1. Photoshop creates the pages and opens them, and you then have to print them one by one. But you can save them for a permanent record. Elements prints all of them right away (that’s what we’re trying to do here right!) but once printed there is no way to save them.
  2. You can’t select a folder of images to process into contact sheets; the pictures have to be imported into your Organizer or all opened in the Editor.
  3. You can only specify the number of columns; Elements picks the number of rows to fit the paper.

Get Photos for Contact SheetSo all Elements users let’s get to it! Open your Organizer. If your pictures are already there you’re set. If they aren’t go to File-Get Photos-From Files and Folder. Click to the folder where your pictures or previews are and click Get Photos.

Select file for Contact SheetFind your pictures in the Organizer and select the one’s you want on the contact sheet. To select, click on the first one and then hold your shift Key and click the last one – it will select all of them. Or you can click the first one and then hold the Ctrl key to pick them individually.

Print Files for Contact SheetGo to File-Print. In the Print dialog box use the pull-down to change the choice to Contact Sheet. Pick the number of columns and then select what information you want printed under the pictures. (I usually just select Filename to be printed). In the left column you can add any pictures you might have forgotten or remove any you don’t want to print. Hit your print button and away it goes!

I hope you enjoy these tips. If you ever have a request for one leave us a comment or contact us here. Until next week…
