My dear friend Twila (check out her rockin’ blog here) had a grand-niece born this week, and desperately needed a kit to scrap with (since she only has a boy, she didn’t have anything already!). So I made her THIS kit:

and I think it came out FABULOUS! I made the rose from a photo Twila had taken, and isn’t it lovely? So… since I’m SO in love with this kit, I made a little ALPHA to go with it! (CLICK HERE to see the inspiration for this kit!)

and now YOU can get the alpha FREE! Yep, just purchase the kit at either of my two stores: SOTB or Digitalscrapn and email me your invoice HERE
I’ll send you back a link to DL the alpha within 24-48 hours! BUT WAIT!! THERE’s MORE!!
For those of you who can’t wait - here’s a little goodie to tide you over…

With the holidays soon here a lot of people will be wishing for and getting a new digital camera. A question we get often in our classes is: How many megapixels do I need?
The answer might surprise you - not as many as you think.
When we talk about megapixels we are talking about the resolution of the camera - how fine a detail a camera can capture. A lot more goes into getting a good, clear picture for your layouts than just the resolution. Things like how good the lens is, proper exposure, no camera shake, being in focus - all help or hurt getting a good clear picture. Strangely enough, the more you enlarge a picture (go from an 8×10 print to a 16×20) the less resolution you need. As you look at bigger size prints you move further away - so you actually are too far away to see a lot of detail.
Here’s an eye opener: Have you admired those great plasma HDTV’s that every one raves looks so good? A 720i display is a one-megapixel display; a 1080i is about a two megapixel.
So you don’t need to spend the money on a high megapixel camera. In our experience a six megapixel model from a good manufacturer like Canon, Nikon, Fuji, or Kodak is great. Look instead for other features - how big a optical zoom, does it have image stabilization, different shooting modes, battery life - and you’ll keep a little more money in your pocket this holiday season!
Happy shopping and have a great Holiday!

My amazing friend Twila made this amazing layout with my Almost Spring kit - and she featured me on her blog today! Such a dear she is! Go look, and leave a kind comment. I just LOVE how she did all the creative photo crops on this one - and she did it in DIP! She’s inspired me for my October Tricks of the Trade Challenge - watch for it on October 1!

I had the opportunity this weekend to work as a teaching assistant to Jessica Sprague at Creating Keepsakes University in Nashville, TN. It was an absolute BLAST, let me tell you! I’ve never attended a CKU, but I’ve got friends who had, so I had a clue what to expect - but WOW. Blow me away. The staff for the event worked amazingly hard, and everything ran amazingly smoothly. But the highlight of the day was Jessica herself!
She was gracious and generous from the beginning to the end of the day. She never missed an opportunity to point out and thank the teaching assistants, even mentioning where I sold and that I taught classes too! I learned more just seeing her in action than I could have imagined. She’s a seasoned teacher, and has the patience of a saint, let me tell ya!
She has online classes HERE, and sells her tutorials at Designer Digitals HERE - check her out, I’m sure you will be as impressed as I. Her BLOG is just full of great information - read through the archives when you have time.
Just for you, dear readers, I’m passing on the same coupon I was handing out to students in class on Saturday:
Just so y’all know, my dear friend Dede made this cool kitty card for me, and got me into this great adventure! (If you see her in a crop, ask her why it’s all her fault!!)
Have a great week everyone - see you in the chatroom!
